Corporate Citizenship

We embrace and encourage corporate citizenship. It is part of our DNA.

Commitment to Community

Supporting and improving the communities where our employees and clients live and work is a decades-long tradition for us. Whether we are providing local and national civic and charitable organizations with financial support, employee volunteers, board members or mentors, the goal is the same – to make a difference. Our commitment to the community is an essential part of who we are.

We work with many organizations, including:

WITS: Working in the Schools

The WITS program promotes literacy and a love of learning among Chicago Public Schools elementary students. GCM Grosvenor has volunteered with WITS since 2010. Our staff is passionate about this program, which provides consistent one-on-one mentorship and creates personal connections with students through reading.

Chicago Cares Volunteer Outing at Cook Elementary School

Chicago Cares connects people, communities and causes through volunteerism. We first volunteered with the organization at their Annual Serve-A-Thon in 1995. Today, we continue that tradition and also volunteer as a community partner on specific projects. Recently, we volunteered at Cook Elementary School where we ran a Science Fair and met with an eighth grade class to discuss “self-branding” and high school.

Commitment to Diversity

Fostering a community of diversity and inclusion is one of our core values and part of our overall business strategy. We firmly believe that as our workforce, suppliers and vendors become more diverse, we improve as a firm. This commitment comes from the highest levels of senior management at GCM Grosvenor, fostering a culture of innovation and creativity, and, ultimately, allowing the firm to remain competitive.

Annual Small and Emerging Managers Conference

The GCM Grosvenor Small and Emerging Managers Conference (SEM Conference) addresses topics relevant to small, emerging and diverse managers. As one of the largest events dedicated to this space, the conference brings together a wide range of professionals specializing in private equity, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure and regionally focused investments. Top managers and institutional investors headline panel sessions at the conference and lead discussions on key issues.

Affinity Groups: WINGs volunteers with runners from the Girls on the Run program

As part of our continued efforts to achieve an inclusive and diverse workforce, we have established networking groups within the firm. These groups focus on women (the Women’s Inspirational Networking Group, or WINGs), the LGBTQ community (GCM Grosvenor Pride), and other underrepresented groups to promote and encourage professional development and networking opportunities, both within and outside of the firm. We also encourage our staff to bring ideas to the leadership team on how to further enhance our environment.

Approach to Responsible Investment

GCM Grosvenor is proud to be a signatory to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). We believe that incorporating responsible investing considerations into investment decisions is prudent from a fiduciary point of view, both for our business and for our clients. We therefore seek to appropriately consider Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues in our investment process. GCM Grosvenor has a Corporate Social Responsibility Team consisting of professionals across the firm who are focused on furthering ESG initiatives, both internally and externally. As an industry leader, we are committed to increasing awareness about the PRI and ESG issues in the alternative investment management industry.

GCM Grosvenor conducts its investment management business through its registered investment manager subsidiaries, Grosvenor Capital Management, L.P. and GCM Customized Fund Investment Group, L.P. Grosvenor Capital Management, L.P. became a signatory to the PRI in 2012 and GCM Customized Fund Investment Group, L.P. became a signatory in 2015. In March 2017, GCM Grosvenor became a signatory and replaced the status of the two registered investment manager subsidiaries as PRI signatories.

As part of our commitment, we submit an annual transparency report to the PRI. A public version of GCM Grosvenor’s 2016-2017 report is available at: https://www.unpri.org/signatory-directory/.
